When you decide upon homeschool Alaska for your child, there are a lot
of things that you will be needed to do. One of them is planning the
year’s curriculum and preparing your child to follow it.
Most
of the time spent includes getting your child to sit and get the work
done. Often, parents believe the only way to succeed in the homeschool
is by hovering. However, that makes your child too dependent on you.
They don’t learn to work independently or get things done without help.
this can hamper your work, will make you unable to work on chores or
your regular jobs, and make your child highly dependent.
The
cycle will continue through high school, if you don’t make the necessary
efforts to put your child’s independence as one of the several goals.
To make them independent, you must make them curious about things. Make
them want to take the initiative and learn. Offering responsibilities or
setting the workload in a way that they take responsibilities is
important.
We will take you through a few tips that should help you get your child to work independently.
1.
The starting point should be getting them to learn the art of
curiosity. If you are learning, they should see that. They should
realize that learning is the only way to get things done while
homeschooling in Alaska. Start by showing them how you learn each thing
before you start working on it. what enables you to learn. How do you
work on things you are curious? These are very basic things, but it can
help your child learn better
2. Each time you want to introduce a
new concept, start by questioning. Don’t introduce the concept. Take
them into the direction of the concept. For instance, if you are going
to take them through a particular preschool topic, show them things
around you. Ask them questions that they know and then help them learn
the topic. If you tell them how to do, they wont have the ability to
learn themselves. They would need an instruction every time they begin
something new. They wouldn’t be able to learn these concepts on their
own.
3. It is important you let your child know that they can
fail. Homeschool Alaska is not about making your child win all the
while. Sometimes, your child might not get it. however, if you help
them, they will know the answer. That is not how you wish to deal with
things. You want them to know that they can fail. This would help them
realize that they are not expected to win. However, if they want to win,
they should ensure that they do it themselves.
4. When you are
creating a curriculum for your child, make sure to choose something that
makes them self sufficient. It should promote the independence in
learning. If there are a few instructions and enablers to help the child
learn, they would be more independent. You must choose a curriculum
that works in your favor.
5. Let your child explore through the
topics before learning from them. this would help them be more
independent with homeschooling in Alaska.
